Munich – There was a more than welcome sight for FC Bayern München fans at the club's Säbener Straße training complex on Monday as was back on the pitch for the first time in almost 14 weeks.

First steps towards comeback

The club captain was running for about half an hour before returning indoors to continue his rehabilitation programme, the Bavarian club announced on their website.

Lahm, 31,

fractured his ankle

during training in mid-November. After a successful operation, a timeframe of three months was forecast for him to make a full recovery. That would see him in line for a comeback exactly one month from now and his return to running on Monday puts him on schedule to do so. The World Cup winner ran separately from the rest of the Bayern team, who were putting in their last training session before travelling to Ukraine, where they will face FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg on Tuesday evening.
