Investor Klaus-Michael Kühne has acquired a 7.5 per cent share in the HSV Fußball AG and bought with it the naming rights to the stadium.
Three different names since 2001
"With this, we are forwarding our economic consolidation and we have reached a very important intermediary objective," said chairman of the advisory board Karl Gernandt. "We will continue to work hard on ensuring that HSV regains competitiveness in all areas on the Bundesliga stage."
HSV's stadium was known as the Volksparkstadion between 1953 and 2001. It has since carried the name of three different sponsors and is currently known as the . The club's most successful seasons were played under its former guise.
