Munich - Good news for FC Bayern München, who got the green light to increase the capacity of their Allianz Arena for both Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League matches as of the second half of the current campaign.

'Extremely pleased'

The Bundesliga pacesetters, who are currently away on a nine-day mid-season training camp in Doha, have been permitted by the city of Munich planning authorities to allow 75,000 fans to Bundesliga fixtures - a rise by 4,000 - while just under 70,000 fans will be able to visit their Champions League games, compared to 68,000 so far.

“We’re extremely pleased that we can give even more supporters the chance to attend our matches,” commented Bayern’s executive board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The German record champions will be up against FC Schalke 04 for their first home game of 2015 on 3 February, one week after visiting second-placed VfL Wolfsburg for their Rückrunde opener on Matchday 18.
