Having collected 120 points from a maximum of 195, the 25-year-old Gabonese forward, who joined the five-time Bundesliga champions from French side AS Saint-Etienne in July 2013, claimed second place behind Manchester City FC’s Yaya Toure (175).

While 2014 ended on a sour note for club Borussia Dortmund - BVB currently occupy 17th place in the Bundesliga standings following a disappointing first half of the 2014/15 campaign - Aubameyang’s performances in the calendar year saw him become of the team's most important players, as he contributed 17 goals and 11 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions.

At international level, the wing wizard also helped guide Gabon to the African Cup of Nations for the first time since 2012, scoring twice and providing a further assist in four outings during the qualification rounds. Aubameyang is set to miss the start of the second half of the season to represent his national team in the prestigious tournament, which kicks off on 17 January in Equatorial Guinea.
