Cologne - VfL Wolfsburg's new recruit Xizhe Zhang has arrived back in Germany and is set to train with his new team-mates for the first time on Monday morning.

Zhang 'can make the leap'

The 23-year-old officially became a Wolfsburg player on 1 January after being unveiled as the latest addition to Dieter Hecking's squad on 16 December.

Wolves sporting director Klaus Allofs made it clear at Zhang's unveiling just over a fortnight ago that the club "will build him up step by step and give him all the time he needs. He is a young player who's already proven in China that he has the potential to make the leap to the Bundesliga." Zhang made 115 appearances for Beijing Guoan, scoring 24 goals, and has also netted twice for China in ten international appearances.
