Cologne - Despite a stuttering start to the 2014/15 season, Hamburger SV managed to claw themselves out of trouble in the latter half of the Hinrunde, collecting eleven points from their last eight league matches to finish the calendar year in 14th place.

bundesliga.com has assessed the performance of all 18 clubs in various areas of play over the course of the Hinrunde and ranked them in positions 1-18 accordingly. The greater the surface area on the spidergram below, the better that club has statistically performed overall in 2014/15.

A glance at the graphic below shows exactly why HSV have struggled this season. The self-styled Bundesliga dinosaurs have only found the net nine times this term, while Josef Zinnbauer's side have also created the second fewest number of clear-cut chances. They do, however, boast the fourth meanest defence in the division (19 goals conceded), but unless the Red Shorts start scoring on a more regular basis, it could be a long second season-half for Zinnbauer and Co.
