Leverkusen extend contract with Bellarabi
Leverkusen - Bayer 04 Leverkusen have activated an option in the contract of attacking midfielder Karim Bellarabi to extend his current deal with the Werkself until 2017.
Up for renewal
Bellarabi, who spent last season on loan at Eintracht Braunschweig, has been one of the club's most consistent performers this term, scoring eight league goals and providing two assists and earning his first senior Germany caps as a result.
His previous deal was set to be up for renewal in summer 2015 and Leverkusen have wasted little time in securing his services beyond the end of the current campaign. The 24-year-old joined from Braunschweig in 2011 and has made a total of 61 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 12 goals.
Leverkusen announced the news on their official Twitter account on Sunday afternoon:
"Bayer 04 have activated an option and extended the contract with Karim Bellarabi until 30 June 2017."
