Cologne - As if the Goal of the Week accolade wasn't enough, SV Werder Bremen hotshot Davie Selke has added the Matchday 17 Player of the Week gong to his festive haul.

Battle of the goalscorers

The Germany Under-19 international garnered 48 per cent of the bundesliga.com users' votes after following up his fourth league goal of the season with an incisive run and assist in Saturday's 2-1 win at home to Borussia Dortmund.

A first goal of the season brought FC Bayern München stand-in skipper Bastian Schweinsteiger to within two per cent of Bremen's matchwinner. As well as grabbing the equaliser with a wonderfully measured free kick in a hard-earned 2-1 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05, the 30-year-old midfielder made his side tick like only he knows how, completing 87 per cent of his 100 attempted passes.

VfL Wolfsburg centre-back Naldo was a distant third on six per cent, meanwhile, despite powering home a trademark header for the second week running in Saturday's 2-1 victory against 1. FC Köln.
