Cologne - After a win for FC Bayern München and a catastrophic defeat for Borussia Dortmund, the final radio instalment of Matchday 17 ended in a thrilling draw between SC Freiburg and Hannover 96.

BVB's blushes spared

Late goals were the order of the day on Matchday 17's radio coverage, as the champions Bayern needed an Arjen Robben strike to help them to a 2-1 win against 1. FSV Mainz 05 at the Coface Arena in the weekend opener.

Hannover 96 followed the champions' lead in the weekend's curtain-closer, as two goals in the last ten minutes brought them a valuable point in a thrilling 2-2 draw with SC Freiburg, but kept Christian Streich's side bottom over the winter break.

One place above Freiburg in 17th are Dortmund, whose disastrous 2-1 defeat to SV Werder Bremen on Saturday afternoon ensured that for the first time in 30 years, BVB are in the automatic relegation places over the winter break.
