Zurich - Four Bundesliga defenders have been named on the shortlist for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2014, joining FC Bayern München goalkeeper Manuel Neuer among the nominees.

Bayern trio Philipp Lahm, Jerome Boateng and David Alaba, alongside Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels, are in contention for a place in the dream team, rewarding the quartet's outstanding performances in the current year.

The midfielder contenders will be announced on Friday 28 November and the strikers on Monday 1 December as part of the complete 55-man shortlist, with the final 11 to revealed at the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala on 12 January 2015.

Neuer, Lahm and French wing wizard Franck Ribery all made the previous 2013 FIFPro World XI following a campaign of unprecedented success for Bayern last season, including a historic Bundesliga, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup quadruple.
