Bremen - There was unbridled joy for the Weser-Stadion faithful after Saturday's late Matchday 11 encounter. Their SV Werder Bremen heroes had picked up a first home win of the season by beating VfB Stuttgart 2-0, which sent them above the Swabians and out of the relegation zone in the process.

overheard the post-match reactions from both sides...

Fin Bartels

: We worked really hard for this win. [New coach Viktor Skripnik]'s man-management is excellent. He speaks good German and knows what he wants and expects. We practiced that corner routine twice in our last training session, but overall I thought we did very well going forward and defensively. We deserved the win. I thought

Clemens Fritz

had a good game in holding midfield alongside

Felix Kroos

. We've got more confidence now and we're aiming to keep it up. We're all enjoying this winning feeling.

Sebastian Prödl

: I know that he's [

Zlatko Junuzovic

] a good player, seeing him here in Bremen and on international duty with Austria. We were all in this together and it's great to pick up a first home win of the season.

Last week's win

in Mainz brought an important three points and now we're off the bottom of the league, I'm looking forward to the international break, although it would have been good to continnue our momentum.

Zlatko Junuzovic

: The atmosphere at the end gave me goosebumps, pure and simple. We really worked for the win.

VfB Stuttgart

Christian Gentner

: We struggled because of set-pieces again, conceding twice from corners, and we've been trying to improve [that side of our game]. We should have used our own chances better, but we're suffering at the back. We need to be better in front of goal and more decisive when defending. I should have scored my chance in the first half and we've now lost against Bremen, Hertha and Köln - the teams around us. We want to be looking up the table, not down it.

Florian Klein

: We should have defended better for the first goal. If we'd managed to get a block in on the player, it could have been avoided. We could have scored in the first half, but we didn’t do enough in the second and didn’t create enough chances.

Martin Harnik

: We had the better chances in the first half and controlled the game, I felt. We weren't positioned well enough for the goal which made it 1-0 to them after half an hour.
