Friendship on ice
Tobias Werner beat his good friend Lukas Kruse twice to net his club record 18th and 19th Bundesliga goals for Augsburg, before Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker completed the scoring.
The depth of Werner's friendship with Kruse, forged during their days together when Kruse played for the Fuggerstädter, could be seen in the fact Kruse's family was invited to spend the weekend as guests at the Werner household. Ever the professional, Werner said that friendship would be put to one side on the field of play, and he was true to his word as be became his club's leading scorer in the top flight, ahead of Sascha Mölders, by beating Kruse from Halil Altintop's pass.
Paderborn had beaten Hertha Berlin in impressive fashion last weekend – their fourth win of the season - but they fell further behind when Werner grabbed his second, heading in from captain Paul Verhaegh's cross. Another header, from Callsen-Bracker, made it three with Werner this time the provider, as the Bavarians collected their fifth win of the campaign.
