Munich - FC Bayern München will be without in the coming weeks after the Bundesliga's all-time leading foreign goalscorer tore a muscle in his right thigh in training.
The 36-year-old's enforced absence leaves Robert Lewandowski as Pep Guardiola's only recognised senior striker, although 2014 FIFA World Cup winners Thomas Müller and Mario Götze have assumed No9 duties in the past.
"It's a real shame," Pizarro said on Tuesday. "Obviously I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the team." Seven of the Peruvian's last 24 competitive appearances have been as a substitute, with his only goal of the current campaign coming against third division side Preußen Münster in the first round of the DFB Cup.
