Mönchengladbach - There was no mistaking which side was happier with the point after Borussia Mönchengladbach were held to a 1-1 draw at home by 1. FSV Mainz 05 to close out Matchday 7 on Sunday evening.

Borussia Mönchengladbach

bundesliga.com brings you the post-match reaction from the Borussia Park…

Max Kruse: We had a lot of chances to win that game. In the last ten minutes, we had two really big opportunities that you have to take. We were better than them but sometimes that’s the way it goes. I think our concentration is off a bit at the moment, and that’s what we have to work on in the next few weeks. We’re unbeaten in eleven matches, though, so it’s a good start for us.

Raffael: I’m really frustrated after today because we had so many chances, especially the one at the end. One point isn’t bad but we’re frustrated it’s not three. We might have been a bit tired after the game against Zürich but Mainz are not a bad side.

Granit Xhaka: We’re very disappointed not to have won. Based on chances created we should have won it and we’d have deserved it if we had. We dominated a good Mainz team. They defended very deep but we still managed to get in behind them. To only take a point is pretty frustrating.

Gonzalo Jara: It was a difficult game against a really good team that are playing in Europe, but we did well. We were good in possession of the ball and I think a point is pretty good for us. We could have had a bit more control of the game at times, but we also know when we need to stay tight and play on the counter-attack, and we have great players like Shinji [Okazaki], Filip [Djuricic] and Jonas [Hofmann] to do that. I swapped shirts with Raffael at the end. I know him well; he was pretty frustrated not to score that chance at the end!

Junior Diaz: It was a really tough game. We know that Gladbach are a really good team, especially at home, but I think we did a really good job in defence and taking a point here is a good result. I thought they were going to score at the end, but Bello [Stefan Bell] made a great covering challenge. I feel good since the World Cup and I’m just trying to maintain my level of performances. I think I was playing pretty well before the World Cup anyway.
