Mainz - Borussia Dortmund were left rueing missed opportunities after their 2-0 defeat away to 1. FSV Mainz 05, who put the victory down to teamwork.

Borussia Dortmund

bundesliga.com rounds up the opinions of some of the game's protagonists...

Erik Durm: We played well for the first 20-30 minutes, we attacked well, covered a lot of ground and created some good chances. Unfortunately we weren’t able to put them away so we need to be more clinical in front of goal. We conceded two goals we should never have conceded. We’re very disappointed because we wanted to win.

Matthias Ginter: [With the own goal], all I knew was that I had a player behind me and that if I didn’t get to the ball he would score. We’re used to playing lots of matches and have a big squad so that’s no excuse. Mainz were just better than us in the second half and they scored their goals at decisive moments. Unfortunately we weren’t able to do the same and that’s why they won.

1. FSV Mainz 05

Jonas Hofmann: It was a great team performance today and I think everyone saw what is possible when you play together. Maybe we got a bit lucky towards the end as Dortmund were pressuring us but goals are what count and we won 2-0. I’m very happy, I don’t think anyone was expecting that result today, it’s awesome. I think they were a little bit tired.
