Paderborn - SC Paderborn and 1. FC Köln remain unbeaten in the 2014/15 Bundesliga campaign after the two top-flight newcomers played out a 0-0 draw on Matchday 3.

Kachunga denied

Both sides had chances to open the scoring in the first ten minutes at the Benteler-Arena. Anthony Ujah, who scored in Köln’s victory at VfB Stuttgart last time out, guided a header inches wide of Lukas Kruse’s left-hand post inside the opening minute, before the in-form Elias Kachunga fired a powerful effort into the side-netting. Chances were at a premium after that, however, with both sides cancelling each other out during a cagey first 45 minutes.

The second half started in much the same fashion, although Köln keeper Timo Horn did produce a superb one-handed save to deny Kachunga, who had got a flick on Moritz Stoppelkamp’s cross from the left-wing. Defences remained on top, however, with both teams eager to preserve their unbeaten start to the season.

Stoppelkamp tried his luck from distance with a quarter of an hour remaining, but the former TSV 1860 Munich man failed to test Horn. As a result, the game petered out in the final stages, with neither side going close to netting the winning goal. Both remain in the top half of the table, however, with five points from their opening three matches.
