Reus wins Matchday 2 Player of the Week vote
'On the right track'
Cologne - Fit-again Borussia Dortmund megastar Marco Reus snagged top spot in the Matchday 2 Player of the Week poll as voted for by bundesliga.com users, courtesy of an energetic display in BVB's 3-2 win over FC Augsburg.
The 25-year-old was the clear winner, taking 59 per cent of the ballot ahead of FC Bayern München debutant Xabi Alonso (27 per cent) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s man of the moment Karim Bellarabi (14 per cent).“Obviously it’s nice,” Reus said in an with bundesliga.com, having missed Germany's FIFA World Cup triumph through injury, “especially after being out for so long. But as I always say, you can’t do it without your team-mates. I’ve worked very hard. I’m just trying to find my rhythm and keep playing matches, I’m on the right track.”
The Germany international's beautifully taken goal and smart assist outshone Messrs Alonso and Bellarabi, the latter serving up a contender for goal of the month with a delectable volley in die Werkself's 4-2 win at home to Hertha Berlin, only a week after netting the the fastest goal in the history of the Bundesliga on the opening day of the 2014/15 campaign.
