Mainz - 1. FSV Mainz 05 have completed the signing of Spanish Under-21 winger Jairo from La Liga outfit Sevilla FC.

'A classic winger'

The 21-year-old right-sided player, who scored four goals in 25 league appearances for Sevilla during the 2013/14 campaign, signed a four-year contract with Kasper Hjulmand's side on Friday afternoon. "I'm delighted to join Mainz 05 and to have the opportunity to show what I can do in the Bundesliga," he said after putting pen to paper.

"Jairo is the player we've been looking for to fill the vacant attacking position on the wing" explained sporting director Christian Heidel. "He's a young, hungry player with loads of potential, who's been playing at the highest level in Spain for three years now. We're delighted he's decided to join us."

"Jairo's a classic winger," added Mainz head coach Hjulmand. "He's quick, a bag of tricks, strong in one-on-one situations and makes excellent runs for his team-mates. He's got all the attributes to fit seamlessly into our side."

A youth product of Real Racing Club's youth academy, Jairo spent seven years at the Santander-based club, bagging twelve goals in 63 first-team outings, before joining Sevilla in June 2013.
