Düsseldorf - The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH has approved the use of vanishing spray in Germany's top two divisions.

Goal-line technology decision pending

The League Association Board voted unanimously in favour of the measure - used by the referee to mark the spot where a free-kick is taken and the minimum required distance for the defensive wall to stand - with the DFB (Deutscher Fußball Bund) due to iron out the remaining details so that an exact introductory date can be set - potentially in time for the first weekend of the 2014/15 Bundesliga campaign (22 August 2014).

All 18 Bundesliga clubs, meanwhile, will vote again on FC Bayern München’s proposal regarding the introduction of goal-line technology at the next Members’ Congress in December.

With respect to the use of video evidence, the managing committee will monitor technical developments and licensing procedure within FIFA. In that regard, the DFL will work closely with the DFB in order to step up communication with world football’s governing body.
