"It's great to be given the opportunity by FC Augsburg to play in the Bundesliga again and I'm really looking forward to the challenge," the 25-year-old Brazilian forward said after committing his talents to the Bavarian Swabians until June 2018.
Wealth of second-flight experience
For his part, Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter noted that, "We've had a close eye on Caiuby's progress for quite a while, so we're delighted the move's worked out and he'll be here to strengthen the team further."
Caiuby racked up 134 Bundesliga 2 appearances for Ingolstadt and MSV Duisburg, netting 27 goals. The Sao Paulo native's first stop-off in Germany was at VfL Wolfsburg in 2008. He turned out nine times for the Wolves in the Bundesliga, scoring once.
Wishing him all the best in his future endeavours, Ingolstadt's sporting director Thomas Linke said, "This is the opportunity for 'Caiu' to take the step up to the top flight and fulfil a dream. We don't want to get in the way of that, even if we will miss his quality out on the pitch."
