Gelsenkirchen - FC Schalke 04 goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal that will keep him at the Veltins Arena until 2019.
'I feel at home'
"We're delighted that Ralf Fährmann has tied himself down to Schalke for the long term," beamed sporting director Horst Heldt. "Ralf is a very important factor behind our recovery during the Rückrunde, and he can now class himself as Schalke through and through."
The 25-year-old custodian has kept 11 clean sheets in 21 Bundesliga outings so far this season, with Jens Keller's men now needing just a point against 1. FC Nürnberg on the final day to seal automatic qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League following Matchday 33's 2-0 win at SC Freiburg.
"My dream is getting even better," enthused Fährmann, who joined the Royal Blues' youth ranks in 2003. "I feel at home here and I'm looking forward to the coming years with Schalke."
