Bremen - Midfielder has declined SV Werder Bremen's offer of a contract extension and will leave the club at the end of the season, bringing his ten-year stay at the Weserstadion to an end.

Dutt: “Very normal process”

The news was confirmed on Thursday afternoon by sporting director Thomas Eichin following the 3-1 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg on Matchday 27.

“Aaron has our greatest appreciation and is an incredibly important part of this team,” said head coach Robin Dutt of the longest-serving player in the club’s active squad during his press conference on Friday. “However, we completely understand that a footballer in the prime of his career at the age of 27, may want a fresh challenge. That's a very normal occurrence in professional football.”

Hunt made his league debut as an 18-year-old under veteran coach Thomas Schaaf in September 2004 and has gone on to make 208 top-flight appearances, scoring 43 goals. He has also won three caps for the Germany national team, the last of them coming in May 2013.
