bundesliga.com rounds up the thoughts of the main protagonists from the landmark match in Sinsheim...

Kevin Volland: We played with real bite today, particularly in the first half. We were getting stuck into the tackles. Augsburg put us under a bit of pressure in the second half and we were lacking that clinical touch. Jens Grahl made sure of the win for us. Obviously it’s great to get a clean sheet. If you look at the game as a whole, I think we deserve the three points. We simply wanted the win a little more than Augsburg today.

Sejad Salihovic: I had a good week in training, and scored nine out of ten free-kicks. I don’t really know what to say. It’s nice to break a club record, but the most important thing today was that we gave our fans something to cheer about and won deservedly thanks to our strong team performance.

Jannik Vestergaard: It was a hectic and intense game today in which both teams had a lot of chances. It was definitely an exciting match for the spectators and exciting for me at both ends of the pitch. For the goal, I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. In the remaining games, we want to get the maximum possible and end the season on a high.

Jens Grahl: I feel great after today’s game. Above all, I would like to thank our physios who got me fit in time for the match. We took our foot off the gas in the second half a little, but we finally kept a clean sheet and deservedly won.

FC Augsburg

Marwin Hitz: It's difficult to accept that we've had another game where we've lost despite so much coming together for us. We made a couple of mistakes at the back and, up front, created numerous chances without hitting the back of the net. It's not going to unsettle us though, we'll continue to give everything we've got in the last couple of games and I have no doubt we'll pick up a few points along the way.

Andre Hahn: I can't remember a game in which we had so many chances. We definitely had six or seven clear-cut goalscoring opportunities. Unfortunately for us we couldn't take advantage of our most promising moments and didn't play out our counterattacks the way we know we're capable of. There was a lot more in this game for us.
