Bremen - There were some honest appraisals on either side after FC Schalke 04 were held to a 1-1 draw by an improving SV Werder Bremen outfit.

FC Schalke 04

bundesliga.com rounds up the thoughts of some of the players involved...

Julian Draxler: We have to admit that our performance against Bremen didn’t deserve a victory. They made life difficult for us and we played too many long balls, which makes it even tougher to win. Sebastian Prödl tidied up so much for them at the back and we couldn’t impose our style of play on the game. On the overall balance of play we have to be happy with a point and we should be thankful we didn’t concede another goal. Finishing in third would be great and that’s our main objective at the moment. Of course we’d have nothing against finishing second either.

Ralf Fährmann: We fully deserved to take a point in the end but on the whole it wasn’t our day today. We had difficulties getting into the game right from the start and I think maybe we were lacking some fresh legs out there. We all know you can’t set the world alight in every game, the way we have in recent matches, so I think a point is ok. The little bit of luck I’ve had making some saves in the last few games wasn’t there today. I tried to narrow the angle so that he couldn’t pull the ball back but the ball hit my thigh and went in the net.

SV Werder Bremen

Raphael Wolf: We were calm enough today to play the ball out from the back instead of just hoofing it clear. We’re winning more challenges in the opposition half and are picking up the second balls more. We’re playing good football at times.

Aaron Hunt: Our performance and the victory against Hannover did us a lot of good and we were able to build on that today. I think we’ve improved at switching from defence to attack and vice versa.

Clemens Fritz: We’ve won back a lot of self-confidence in recent weeks through sheer hard work. If you go into a game with a more positive feeling that makes everything easier. Our playing style is starting to shine through now.
