Frankfurt - will not only miss the second leg of Eintracht Frankfurt's UEFA Europa League clash with FC Porto on Thursday night, but the midfielder will probably not feature again this season.

Big loss

The 22-year-old has damaged cartilage in his knee and is set to be operated on in the coming days.

Following surgery, Rode faces several months on the sidelines and is not therefore expected to return again until the start of the 2014/15 season. "He picked up an injury against Bremen and needs an operation," said coach Armin Veh at a press conference in Frankfurt on Wednesday. "He's likely to miss the rest of the season."

"It's very disappointing for him and for us, and for me on the eve of such a big game," continued Veh. Rode has been a mainstay in Veh's team this season, missing just five games this season and played 72 minutes of the first leg of their Europa League tie in Porto a week ago. Frankfurt can progress to the last 16 of the competition with a victory against the Portuguese outfit.
