Mönchengladbach - Martin Stranzl is to play on for another season after Borussia Mönchengladbach extended his contract until 2015.

'Happy with Borussia'

The 33-year-old said he is still feeling fit enough to perform at the highest level, while his family is settled in Mönchengladbach.

"I'm feeling very happy with Borussia and I've always said that I would like to carry on playing for as long as my body plays along, for as long as the club would like me and for as long as I and my family are happy here," said Stranzl. "All of that is the case and therefore I'm delighted to be able to play on another year with Borussia."

The Austrian defender made his 100th competitive appearance for the Foals last weekend, totalling 84 Bundesliga matches since arriving from FC Spartak Moskva in January 2011. "Martin's been in our starting XI for 20 out of 21 competitive matches this season," said the club's sporting director Max Eberl. "He's an important lead figure in our team and we're delighted that we'll have him with us next year too."
