Munich - will miss FC Bayern München's UEFA Champions League last-16 clash with Arsenal FC on 19 February, despite undergoing a successful operation to relieve a trapped nerve on Thursday.

'On the right track'

An MRI scan on Monday revealed that the bruising on Ribery's buttock, which had been pressing on a nearby nerve, had been successfully removed. However, the 30-year-old will only be able to return to training later this week.

Although Bayern club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfart comfirmed Ribery is "on the right track", the 2013 UEFA Best Player in Europe will miss the Bavarians' home match with SC Freiburg on Matchday 21, as well as the Champions League last-16 first leg with the Gunners.
