On the treatment table

The start of the second half of the season had been going so well for

der Club

, but they were dealt two hammer blows following the encounter at the Grundig Stadion as the extent of the duo's injuries was confirmed via Twitter on Saturday evening, just hours after the final whistle.

Both players had to be stretchered off the field during the

first half of Saturday's match

before immediately being taken to a local hospital to undergo tests. Chandler's MRI scan revealed the US Men's National Team right-back had torn the outer meniscus in his left knee after stretching awkwardly in an attempt to make an interception. The 23-year-old will now be sidelined for up to ten weeks. The news was worse for striker Ginczek, after it was confirmed he had torn the cruciate ligament in right knee, ruling him out for at least six months. Both players will undergo surgery in Augsburg on Monday in a bid to repair the damage, but for now Nürnberg will have to make do without their two first-team regulars.
