Munich - Jakub Blaszczykowski's knee ligament injury may have come as a huge blow to Borussia Dortmund, but thankfully for Jürgen Klopp, the Poland international's replacement came up trumps on on Matchday 19.

Match-winners

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stormed to victory in bundesliga.com's Player of the Week poll, taking almost half of the overall votes (48 per cent) to beat FC Bayern München's Mario Götze (30 per cent) into second place. It was an overwhelming victory for the Gabonese international, who is now Dortmund's joint top-scorer alongside Robert Lewandowski on 11 goals, just one fewer than the league's leading marksman, Hertha Berlin's Adrian Ramos.

Aubameyang's brace earned Dortmund a much-needed three points against Eintracht Braunschweig. Not only was it the Westphalians' first win of 2014, it was their first since the end of November, when they beat 1. FSV Mainz 3-1 at the Coface Arena. "It was difficult psychologically after not winning four games in a row," said the 24-year-old. "That makes the win so crucial."

Dortmund's deficit on league-leading Bayern was thus reduced to 14 points - until Sunday, that is, when Pep Guardiola's team stormed to a resounding 5-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. Götze held the key to unlocking the Eagles' defence at the Allianz Arena as the Bavarians continued their charge to a 23rd Bundesliga title. "It's just a lot of fun to play in this team," Götze said. "You can see that on everyone's face."

Rewarding goals

It was also a memorable weekend for FC Schalke 04's Kevin-Prince Boateng and 1. FC Nürnberg's Josip Drmic. The former grabbed the winner as the Royal Blues downed fellow European hopefuls VfL Wolfsburg, while the latter's brace earned the Franconians a second straight win after they had gone 17 games without a single three-point haul. Both players took eight per cent of our post-matchday vote.

Mame Diouf, who was also on target twice in Hannover 96's 3-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, was rewarded with four per cent of the vote, while Bayer 04 Leverkusen forward Eren Derdiyok took two per cent of the weekly poll after scoring his first goal in 441 days against VfB Stuttgart.
