Munich - EA Sports and FIFA 14 present a virtual showdown of Borussia Mönchengladbach's match at home to FC Bayern München ahead of the real thing, which kicks off tonight at 20:30 CET.
To whet your appetite further, we've selected a few of the standout statistics to have emerged from the duo's previous encounters:
- Mönchengladbach's 11-0 victory over FC Schalke 04 on 7 January 1967 is the highest-ever win on the opening day of the Bundesiga Rückrunde. Bernd Rupp (four goals), Herbert Laumen (three), Jupp Heynckes and Günter Netzer (two each) were all on target for Hennes Weisweiler's men.
Bayern will be hoping to repeat last year's best-ever start to a second season-half when the Bundesliga record champions won each of their first 14 encounters. That streak ended on Matchday 32, however, when the Bavarians were held to a 1-1 draw away to Borussia Dortmund.
Only four sides have managed to remain unbeaten over the course of a second half of the season, and Bayern did so twice. They won twelve and drew five in 1986/87, before recording 16 victories and a draw last season. Dortmund likewise went without a defeat just twelve months earlier (15 wins, two draws), as did Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1976/77 campaign when they won 11 and drew six.
