The 18-year-old praised die Breisgauer for putting up a good fight at the Veltins Arena, but Freiburg keeper Oliver Baumann admits he is becoming increasingly concerned at his team's lack of goals.

bundesliga.com summarises what the players had to say after the final whistle.

Max Meyer: It was a hard-earned victory for us. Freiburg are a good team and we had a difficult game on Wednesday, which possibly had an effect on today’s performance. I still feel we deserved to win the match. We have to make sure we win our next match as well so we can go into the winter break in a good position.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos: I'm very, very happy. It was a hard time for me, but I never gave up and worked hard every day towards my comeback. It was a great feeling to be able to play a few minutes at the end. It gave me goosebumps.

Oliver Baumann: We gifted Schalke their first goal. Up to that point, we were fairly comfortable and everything was going to plan, but the goal made things very difficult for us. We kept fighting until the end, but it wasn’t enough unfortunately. We have to improve our scoring record, which is something we have to work on in training. It would give the whole team a confidence boost if we started scoring more frequently.

Matthias Ginter: These unfortunate incidents, such as the opening goal today, have been happening to us all season. To lose 2-0 because of an own goal and a penalty is very annoying. We also lacked that cutting edge in attack. We did everything we could, but we always seem to shoot ourselves in the foot, which is very disappointing.
