Frankfurt - A decision regarding the introduction of goal-line technology in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will be made before the end of the season, the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH has confirmed.

Informed decision

The deadline was set following a general meeting between the 36 professional clubs of Germany's top two divisions in Frankfurt on Thursday 5 December.

A group of experts from the DFL will analyse technology currently in use in England and the Netherlands, as well as the equipment set to be used at the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco this month, before making an informed decision. The criteria to be assessed included, among other things, accuracy, reliability, infrastructure, speed and cost.

The English Premier League and the Dutch Eredivisie both introduced goal-line technology at the start of the 2013/14 season.
