Bremen - After an enthrallingly topsy-turvy game at the Weserstadion ended 3-2 to 1. FSV Mainz 05 against SV Werder Bremen, everyone was rushing to have their say.

1. FSV Mainz 05

bundesliga.com heard what those most involved, the players, made of the encounter...

Nicolai Müller: We wanted to start well, Bremen are known for their excellent players and they showed that at the end. Thank heavens we picked up three points. I felt good after the injury, it all went well up until the 70th minute when I started to feel a bit of pain in my foot, but I made it through. The last ten minutes could have been even more painful if we'd lost.

Loris Karius: We really imposed ourselves early on, and two goals after 17 minutes definitely helps. We were forced to defend for a long time in the second half and, not just today, but in the last few matches we've really shown our fighting spirit. Obviously, I always want to help the team to do as well as possible, and stopping the ball going in is my job.

SV Werder Bremen

Clemens Fritz: Maybe we underestimated Mainz, they're a good side, and although we gave 100 per cent right to the end, it wasn't enough. We could have rescued a point, but it wasn't to be. Going on, we need to make the most of our chances and intensity, another goal would have picked up a point. We scored twice, but lost the game, and that's that.

Sebastian Mielitz: We didn't show our best today, and it certainly wasn't my best performance. I can only apologise to the team and the fans, for the first goal I shoulder complete responsibility, but I'll come back stronger. I can't run away, but we almost completed the wonder on the Weser. Mainz were excellent, even though we fought with real passion and the fans supported us as loudly as ever. I want to apologise to them and my team again.
