Augsburg - FC Augsburg appeared to be heading for victory over VfL Wolfsburg, but learned a harsh lesson as the Wolves hit back to win 2-1.

FC Augsburg

bundesliga.com summarises the reaction to their first away win of the season.

Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker: We’re disappointed because we didn’t score a second goal. Wolfsburg would certainly not have come back then. This defeat hurts, but we’ve put setbacks behind us often enough and we won’t let this defeat knock us down.

Tobias Werner: We played a magnificent first 15 minutes and just failed to get a second or a third goal. Then we lost control of the game and of course it’s bitter because we wanted to take the next step and keep Wolfsburg at a safe distance.

Paul Verhaegh: It’s a very unfortunate defeat for us. In the first 20 to 30 minutes, we were clearly superior and then Wolfsburg turned the game around out of nothing. We forgot to reward ourselves for our engagement and the excellent chances we created early on.

Daniel Baier: If we don’t take our chances, then of course the game turns. In the second half, we could not get a foothold in the game again and we created very few chances. We’ve got to carry on working hard and not settle with the points we’ve already got.

Maximilian Arnold: It was a hard-fought win. Of course we’re absolutely delighted that we’ve now got a win after two difficult weeks.
