Dortmund - Borussia Dortmund have suffered yet more woe on the fitness front after it was revealed that , Sven Bender and have all been struck down with injury.

Two weeks to recover

The news will come as a blow to head coach Jürgen Klopp, who is already without Nuri Sahin, as well as long-term absentees Sebastian Kehl and Ilkay Gündogan.

The saving grace for Klopp is that the upcoming international break may be the ideal time for Bender, out for ten days with muscle stiffness in his back and stomach, and Reus, sidelined with torn ankle ligaments after the 2-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 8, to recover.

The club’s possible gain is the national team’s loss, however, as both been ruled out of Germany’s upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden. Hamburger SV defender Heiko Westermann has been called into the squad as a replacement.

Hofmann, meanwhile, is suffering from tendinitis in his left knee and also requires ten days to resume training, meaning he will miss the upcoming Germany U-21 games against Montenegro and the Faroe Islands.

Hummels suspended

Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has received a one-match ban after his sending off against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 8.
