Munich - FC Bayern München midfielder hopes to be fit enough to return to team training next week.

"Still can't train"

The 29-year-old recently withdrew from the Germany squad to focus on his recovery from a persistent ankle injury, which flared up in the recent 1-1 draw with SC Freiburg.

"I hope that it will be better next week," Schweinsteiger told FCB.tv. "There's not much I can do at the moment, other than a bit of cycling and some stability exercises. Unfortunately I still can't train or do anything with the ball."

Bayern are already without injured midfield duo Javier Martinez and Thiago Alcantara, while has likewise put his international ambitions on the backburner due to an ankle complaint.
