bundesliga.com rounds up the post-match views from the main protagonists...

Vedad Ibisevic: It was good fun playing today - we've got such a young team and we're very sharp . Despite our hard week, being at home motivated us and showed how good we can be. We did play well against Rijeka [in the UEFA Europa League play-off] but the game was overshadowed by mistakes - today was a reaction to that. What's most important is showing our strength of character in that we've responded, and responded well. I'm pleased we won today, and played well in front of our new coach.

Antonio Rüdiger: I'm elated with my first Bundesliga goal, delighted with the win, and felt we certainly deserved it. My goal was a very important goal because it put us in the lead. Everyone involved knew we had to win today, it was a derby and we needed the three points. It always motivates you when there's a new coach to impress.

Andreas Beck: We were completely asleep for the first goal, conceding from a free-kick like that was stupid. Stuttgart were excellent though, cool in front of goal, and very dangerous going forward. We lost the game in the first-half through silly mistakes - we could have done without this result, but we'll keep working hard.

Koen Casteels: There's not very much to say after today, it was a bad day - we prepared well but it didn't go our way. It's never good when you concede twice in the first fifteen minutes, we really tried but it just wasn't to be. We shouldn't forget how well we've been playing so far this season though - we'll do our analysis and try and get back on track.
