Gelsenkirchen - FC Schalke 04 and VfL Bochum have reached an agreement, in principle, over the transfer of talented midfielder to the Bundesliga side.

“One of the biggest talents in Germany”

Schalke’s sporting director Horst Heldt met with his Bochum counterpart Christian Hochstätter on Sunday to discuss the proposed transfer, and the duo agreed on a deal which should lead to the 18-year-old wearing Royal Blue in future.

“We went to Bochum with the aim of reaching a mutual agreement,” said Heldt, who was accompanied to the meeting by Schalke’s director of finance & administration Peter Peters. “We’re all very pleased that we’ve managed to do that and we’re looking forward to having Leon Goretzka, one of the biggest talents in Germany, playing for FC Schalke 04.”

Further formalities for the transfer and paperwork must be filled in for the deal to be rubber stamped in the coming days. Goretzka, a German youth international, played 32 Bundesliga 2 matches for Bochum last season, scoring four goals.
