Munich - FC Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber has resumed light physical exercise in his bid to recover from two cruciate knee ligament injuries.

Movement and stability

The 24-year-old has been hard at work at the club's Säbener Straße training ground with club physio Gerry Hoffmann, while the rest of the senior squad are on their end-of-season holidays.

Key for Germany international Badstuber is that he recovers some stability in his right knee, after the identical injuries. He has been training on an exercise bike in order to build up its strength. The original rupture was suffered in a Bundesliga game at the Allianz Arena against Borussia Dortmund in December, before another setback last month.

On 20 May he was operated on by renowned surgeon Dr. Richard Steadman, who removed the damaged tissue. In the coming months he will have surgery again, where an artificial ligament will be inserted.
