The South Korean striker joined his new team mates in preparation for the second half of the season after undergoing a medical in the Bavarian city on Tuesday.
He links up with compatriot Ja-Cheol Koo in the Augsburg squad, and the club's fans will be hoping he can have a similar impact to what Koo had in the second half of last season while on loan from VfL Wolfsburg. The South Korean midfielder netted five times to help the club avoid relegation to the second division during a revival in early 2012.
"It's great that the transfer has gone through before the training restart," said Augsburg's director of sport Stefan Reuter, who himself officially starts work for the club on Wednesday. "That way, Dong-Won Ji, who is a versatile forward, can take part in the entire preparation for the second half of the season."
Ji and Koo won the bronze medal at the London Olympic Games last year.
