- Fünfstück released after eight months in the role.
- No replacement has been found for the 1997/98 Bundesliga champions.
- Kaiserslautern ended the campaign 20 points behind 1. FCNürnberg in the play-off place.
1. FC Kaiserslautern have parted ways with coach Konrad Fünfstück after a season that saw the four-time German champions finish 20 points adrift of promotion to the Bundesliga.
"We have had many discussions in recent days and weeks," said FCK sporting director Uwe Stöver. "In the end we have jointly concluded that it is in the best interests of the club to make a fresh start to produce the necessary optimism."
Fünfstück, 35, was appointed in place of Kosta Runjaic last September, but the former academy director was unable to lift the club higher than tenth. The Red Devils have no successor as yet.
"We will work hard to find the next head coach," said Stöver. "It is important to look forward and to plan intensively for the 2016/17 season."
