Defender Marc Hornschuh has signed a four-year contract extension at FC St. Pauli, tying him to the club until 2020.

"I felt at home at St. Pauli from my first day; it just felt like a perfect fit," said Hornschuh. "It's a lot of fun to work with the rest of the team, and the club is a fantastic place to be. I'm optimistic that I can develop further with this team."

St. Pauli coach Ewald Lienen was equally pleased, saying: "Marc has played very well as both a right-back and a central defender ever since joining us. He is strong in the tackle, good in the air, and likes to go forward. His personality and readiness to take on responsibility are very impressive."

The 25-year-old joined St. Pauli from Bundesliga 2 rivals FSV Frankfurt last summer, and has since become indispensable for the Hamburg outfit, appearing in 22 of the club's 27 games and helping the Hamburg-based side rise to fourth.
