Bundesliga 2 club MSV Duisburg have relieved head coach Gino Lettieri of his duties with immediate effect.
The move comes a day after the Zebras were beaten 1-0 by TSV 1860 Munich, a result which left them three points adrift at the foot of the standings.
'He deserves our thanks'
"Gino Lettieri managed to lead MSV back into professional football the second year after we lost our licence and that was anything but imaginable given the possibilities MSV had those years," said Duisburg's chairman Ingo Wald. "He deserves our thanks for the work he has done for us, his painstaking efforts and his determination."
Lettieri was appointed in the summer of 2014 with Duisburg in the third division, and the 48-year-old led the North Rhine-Westphalia side back into Bundesliga 2 at the end of the 2014/15 season. Duisburg have picked up just six points from 13 matches this term, however.
