TSV 1860 Munich secured their place in Bundesliga 2 next season and condemned SC Paderborn 07 to a bottom three finish with a 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena.
Goals: 1-0 Mauersberger (73')
1860 had lifted themselves out of relegation danger with two straight wins and they were keen to take the next step towards survival, although they could not crown a bright opening with a goal. Their guests, also fighting for their lives with just one win from their last six, slowly started to gain a foothold in the game, making the draw the fair result at half-time.
1860 raised their game in the second half and got their reward when Jan Mauersberger tucked the ball in from close range after Heuer Fernandes could not keep hold of Daylon Claasen's cross. It was enough to earn the Lions all three points and mathematical safety, while Paderborn have it all to play for on Matchday 34.
