FSV Frankfurt 1899 slipped into the relegation play-off spot after a damaging 4-1 defeat at home to 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Friday.
The hosts, who began the game a point ahead of 19th-placed side TSV 1860 Munich, got off to the perfect start when Zlatko Dedic headed in. Lautern were level not long afterwards, though, as Alexander Ring found the bottom corner.
After a tight second half, the visitors then took control as substitute Antonio-Mirko Colak netted a double, with Sascha Mockenhaupt adding a final flourish. Falko Götz's side are now a point behind 15th-placed Fortuna Düsseldorf with two games to play.
