- Early goal sets 1860 en route to important win.
- The Munich outfit are two points clear of the bottom three.
- Pauli's promotion hopes ended with defeat.
TSV 1860 Munich took a step towards Bundesliga 2 safety thanks to a well-earned 2-0 win at FC St. Pauli on Friday.
Daylon Claasen’s superb eighth-minute goal settled the nerves of the visitors, who had started tentatively. They were helped out by a misplaced pass from Enis Alushi that allowed Claasen to race goalwards before finishing with aplomb.
The hosts upped the pressure after the break, but after defending stoically, 1860 clinched all three points through Levent Aycicek’s late strike to move two points clear of the bottom three.
