RB Leipzig slipped three points behind Bundesliga 2 leaders SC Freiburg on Matchday 31 after being held to a 1-1 draw away to 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Having surprisingly lost at home to SV Sandhausen 1916 last week, Leipzig needed to pick up points again here to maintain momentum in their push for promotion to the top flight. Ralf Rangnick's men duly began strongly and forced their hosts to defend for the majority of the first half, creating a handful of decent chances that they were unable to convert.
The visitors' pressure eventually took its toll after the break, however, when striker Emil Forsberg tapped in from close range. Leipzig's hopes of victory suffered a setback shortly afterwards when former Kaiserslautern defender Willi Orban was sent off for a second bookable offence. The hosts pushed for an equaliser and managed to make their numerical advantage count in the closing stages through substitute Kacper Przybylkos' effort.
