USMNT striker Bobby Wood scored a brace as 1. FC Union Berlin beat SC Paderborn 07 4-0 at the Benteler-Arena on Matchday 29.
Union, without a win on the road since December, were two goals to the good and in dreamland after only 13 minutes. Twice Paderborn erred at the back and twice Wood was there to pounce, his brace lifting his season tally to a club-record 16 goals. Not too long after and the visitors were three goals up, Damir Kreilach's left-footed finish leaving Daniel Heuer Fernandes with no chance in the Paderborn goal.
Nine minutes before the break and the capital-city side had a fourth when Toni Leistner, unmarked in the box, headed home Felix Kroos' corner. The Berliners eased off in the second period, but by that stage the damage had already been done.
The win lifts Union to 40 points, while Paderborn remain marooned in the relegation zone.
