In desperate need of points, 1860 Munich took the game to their hosts early on and were rewarded in the 14th minute when Sascha Mölders squeezed in between two defenders to prod home Michael Liendl’s cross. Hopes of the badly-needed three points were dashed in a devastating seven-minute spell before half-time, however.
Just after the half-hour mark, Dimitris Diamantakos finished off a neat passing move to level the scores. Karlsruhe served up a double-whammy a short while later as Manuel Gulde headed home from a corner a few minutes before Enrico Valentini put the game out of reach with a coolly-taken penalty.
The result leaves 1860 Munich in the relegation play-off place, three points adrift of safety.
