1. FC Kaiserslautern all but put fears of relegation to bed thanks to a 2-0 win over SV Sandhausen on Sunday.

1. FC Kaiserslautern 2-0 SV Sandhausen

Goals: 1-0 Jenssen (6’), 2-0 Bödvarsson

The hosts started the day in 12th, two points and a place behind their Matchday 28 opponents, but almost immediately gave themselves the edge through Ruben Jenssen's early strike, his fifth goal of the season.

Though winless in six outings before kick-off, FCK's confidence - as well as their defence - held firm with captain Daniel Halfar pulling the strings in midfield.

FCK goalkeeper Marius Müller preserved his side’s advantage, saving notably from Alexander Bieler in the first half as well as Andrew Wooten and Thomas Pledl after the break.

After Marco Knaller had felled Jon Dadi Bödvarsson, the Iceland international forward slotted home from the spot in added time at the end of the match to help lift his team nine points clear of the bottom three.
